Bobby Mackey’s On-going Investigation
Bobby Mackey’s Music World – Wilderm KY
We were invited down by a paranormal group in northern Kentucky to investigate Bobby Mackey’s with them for our internet show, “Ghost Diaries”. With all the claims and even a book written about the place, we were excited to see what we could find.
We drove down to the location and got there a bit early. We took that opportunity to walk the grounds, take some pictures and see what we could find. We noticed a couple of things right away. The building is really close to a river. Running water is said to enhance spiritual activity and this place sure had lots of it. Also, there was a lot of limestone around and that too is said to harness spiritual energy. So far, we have hopes that we would catch something that night.
After a while, the other group started showing up. We did the normal meet and greet and then headed inside. Once right inside, there is a sign that says that the bar is not responsible for anything that happens to you by a ghost. Now, you know that sign had to be there because someone said something happened to them by a ghost. Funny sign and gave us a chuckle going in.
The building is quite old. It’s been many things in it’s time, but now stands as a country music bar complete with stage, live bands and a mechanical bull.
~Claims~
There are lots of claims of activity at this location. Heck, there’s even a book about it called “The Gates to Hell”. The claims we were told about were of a shadow person standing on the stage as if they were trying to preform, people getting touched in an area that used to be the bars kitchen but now holds tables and seating, footsteps in the attic, feelings of dread in the mens bathroom (I will admit, there was a smell that wasn’t nice), multiple shadows in the basement, people getting touched in the basement, people getting shoved in the basement and last but not least, the old well that’s called “The gate to hell”. This is an old well that’s long been filled in, but is supposed to allow evil spirits to come and go.

~Investigation~
We split up into two groups. The Quest team took the main floor and the attic while the KY team took the basement. While on the main floor, the Quest team split up into two teams. The place is certainly big enough for that. We checked out all the areas. There was some unexplained noises coming from the place, but really, you can chalk that up to being an old building with lots of old noises. For the most part, the main floor seemed to be quiet with no activity.
When evidence was reviewed, we found some audio on Hogan’s recorder from the main floor. Here’s the background on the EVP:
This EVP was recorded near the bull ride and pool table area. Hogan personally heard his name being called twice and it was captured on the recorder. If you listen closely, you can also hear someone speaking in the beginning of the recording.

After about two hours of investigating, the KY team and Quest switched things up. We got to head down to the basement where a lot of activity is reported to happen.
Walking in, you an tell it’s a different world down there. There used to be dressing rooms and places for people to get read for shows, but it’s very run down and now serves as storage for all things old and useless.
We again decided to split up into teams. This time in 3 teams of 2. There were more places to cover and we wanted to hit them all. My (Tobin) team headed into a room where it is said you can see faces in the wall. The Travel Channel filmed there recently before we got there and made a big deal out of it. We were able to discern that it was simply condensation over time creating patterns in the wall and creating a matrixing effect for people. There was nothing more than that. It was while we were in this room when we heard over the radio to come down to a certain area where the dressing rooms used to be.
James and another investigator were in this room to try and make contact. It was a small room that seemed to be about 5 feet by 5 feet or so with a couple chairs and a small door. When we arrived they told us what had happened. The other investigator was suddenly pushed in his back and he stood up. When he did, the laces of his shoes were tied around the legs of the chairs. It seemed as though something was playing with them. So, they left the room and we decided to do an EVP session. Nothing else came of that room for the rest of the night, but it was an interesting experience for the investigators and something they won’t soon forget.

While all this was going on, Hogan and one other investigator headed to a small room that used to be used as a really small jail cell and had a very creepy vibe to it. Being the only two in this area, they decided to do an EVP session.
There was the normal EVP questions asked and nothing was happening, so Hogan (knowing he was next to the “gate to hell”) decided to read from the book of prayers to see if that would antagonize the spirit. He noticed something and said, “There’s something different in this room… What is it”? There was an answer on the digital recorder saying, “I’m…Here!”
After getting the feeling that something was different, Hogan and another investigator moved into the small room and continued the EVP session. Here is Hogan’s recount:
Jen and I were the only ones in the area of the basement at the time and we were on the north side of the “brick cell room”. When we went to go into the area, I grabbed Jen and told her not to go back there because I had just witnessed a dark shadow moving around by the back wall. After it left, we proceeded to enter the area and did an EVP session. I explained that the electrical box in my hand was a devise that would capture their voice and if it would like to try to talk. The male EVP talks pver my voice. Jen and myself were the only ones in the basement at the time and neither one of us heard the voice with our own ears. It was only discovered after reviewing the recorder later that is sounds like a man is whispering directly into the recorder.
We believe the EVP says: ”You can’t hear me….in the electrical box…………………you can’t get me!”

After another couple hours, we decided to call it a night. While on the main floor, a Quest investigator stated that he’d like to take one more team down to the basement for about 20 more minutes to check something out while we packed up the gear.
While down there, they went to the well and small cell area to do some video and EVP work. The Quest investigator (not having any experiences that night) decided to do some provoking. The team all gathered in the small cell area and proceeded to provoke. It was then that Hogan and another investigator started to smell burning flesh. This is never a good thing. A few moments later, the Quest investigator was shoved hard into a wall and slid down. He wasn’t pushed over, he was pushed back. They came back upstairs and showed us the video and the scratches.

The video, that was held by that investigator, shows him being pushed back and falling with some force. That video will be posted soon for you to see.
And, here is the video. You’ll be able to see a few people in the room around him and then there is a shove. This is a forceful shove and you could see marks on his shoulders where he was pushed.
